I enjoyed reading about the effects of college especially on
our generation now. Since we are currently going through college now it really
was relatable. I know I went to college to get an education in a field I was
interested in, so I could get a job in the future. It’s so important that
people go to college to get an education so they are more valuable in the job
field as they search for higher ranked/paid jobs. As I am close to graduation,
I could really relate with that paragraph of the text. In the textbook it
talked about how students are committed to values and our own opinions. I could
highly agree with that thought but turn it towards music education. As we went
through our classes, we were taught how to teach and what the “proper” way to
do it is. Now that I am a Senior about to student teach next semester, I feel
myself getting more comfortable with teaching. I have my own personality so naturally
I would have my own method to teaching. I am also finally comfortable to feel
like an authoritative figure in the classroom and I can pull my serious face
out and the class instantly snaps back to my attention. I think it’s so
interesting how the human thought process develops, and how the ages make
different thought processes smother or bumpy. As a teacher, I am looking
forward to seeing this logic in my kids regardless of what age they are. I know
the thought process will be so fun to see along with the growth of my students.
