Honesty

You should always tell the truth, even when it seems as if it would be useful to tell a lie. Honest is the best policy is something that you say which means that it is best to be honest, with relationships, as with so many aspects of life, honesty is undoubtedly the best policy. But is it really a policy or is it a value you should have in life? You should value anyone and everyone to be upfront with them and respect them.

When you have the opportunity to be completely honest with someone or lie, what is your first instinct? Think about it, would you rather be honest with that person so they respect you and can trust you will always be upfront with them or do you lie whether its a little white lie or a bold face lie to protect them from what "getting hurt"? I value people who have enough sense to know how and when to apply that honesty in a way that does the least amount of harm to anyone.

I have seen my own mother be lied to while her ex-husband lied to her about another woman. In my opinion if you fall out of love with someone it is possible of course anything can happen, right? Don't lie about it to cover your ass it will only make the situation worse for you. The truth will always come out no matter what you do or say to cover your tracks I promise. Karma is a real thing, i've seen it happen to people. By him lying to my mom it only made her more suspicious and hurt her that he chose lying than just being upfront. You marry someone and are in a relationship whatever with someone based on the trust your relationship is built on. If your relationship isn't built on trust you don't have an honest partner and that should be your number one sign it will not work out.

Of course you have those loaded questions that make people question lying or being honest like "What about when your grandmother spends 100 hours knitting you the world’s ugliest sweater and she asks, “Don’t you just love it?”" Sure, it would be honest to tell your kid that he’s no Picasso and that he ought to stick to spelling or arithmetic, but is that kind? It all comes down to the type of circumstance you are facing.
