Day Care

I found the textbook to be interesting about day care. I was raised by a stay at home mother who worked from the home with her own business and my father went to work every day. Two years ago, my mom decided to get a part time job as a hostess at a local cafĂ© and works three days a week. At first, it was strange to think of my mom working outside of the house. I was not home when she started working, but I found it to be so strange since for the first 19 years of my life I was used to my mom being home whenever I needed her. She can luckily put my brother on the bus and then be at work shortly after 7 this year, and I know she enjoys working and the other people she works with. When I was reading the section about the high quality Day Care, I was thinking about daycares in our area that could meet or not meet these standards. My friend works at a daycare, and they follow very closely to the number of infants in a room along with the adults per infant ratio. Not all daycares around my area follow the professional caregiver rule. My friend has a degree in social work, so she doesn’t line up with the early childhood degree. They make sure it’s clean every day and especially when a child is sick. I don’t know what I will do in the future for my future kids. I want to be a mother, but I also wouldn’t want to be a stay at home mom. I love being out and about a teaching is my passion. But, I also hate how sick children can get from daycares so I do have options and a lot of time.
