Self- Awareness
The part of the reading that I found most interesting in chapter 7 was the section about self awareness. Self-awareness is the realization that one's body, mind, and actions are separate from those of other people (R.A. Thompson, 2006). This section was the most interesting to me because we realize that as we get older we are still analyzing ourselves and still becoming aware of who we really are. As children, we look at the little things that stands out to us such as, our hair, clothes, face, or even body parts. But as we get older, we begin to look deep within that. We being to learn more about ourselves and our personality, looking for closure in things that makes us comfortable, and becoming aware of our surroundings. Our surroundings makes up who we are, many times our surrounds builds up our character either for better or the worst. Without self awareness and self recognition as a child, we would not have been able to make the choices that we make now. Our behavior when we were children only prepared for whats to come in the future.
