Dynamic Perception and People Preference

I believe dynamic perception is very important part of infancy. I use to work at a daycare and the infant/toddler aged kids could barely stay still or do the same thing for very long. They were always moving about trying to find the next new idea, object, or activity. I believe parents should allow their children to roam within proximity and explore as much as possible since exploring leads to learning. With all the new technology coming out I don't believe infants/toddlers are getting around as much. There is the tv, ipads, and cell phones which are great for a small amount of time. However, I think being able to play with a ball or toy will help broaden a child's learning capacity more since they are actually psychically involving themselves in the experience while learning. I also think socializing with infants as much as possible is crucial to their learning. Infants have a people preference which is that humans have learned by relying on caregivers or other humans. (pg 162 "The Developing Person Through the Life Span"). Infants will use this people preference to learn to respond to their parents facial expressions and voices. Constant adult contact with the baby will help it grow intellectually and socially.
