Infant and emotions

As I watched a video on infant reaction to the mother communicating with them, I was so intrigued. I am the oldest child and my brother is 10 years younger than I am. I remember when he was born, and our parents would say it was like he had 3 mothers (my mom, and my sister along with myself). We would take home videos all the time of him, and we loved his reactions to us talking to him. He especially loved being sung to. As a teacher, I think of kindergarten or first grade when you start very basic melodic songs such as a child’s chant (you can’t catch me for example). Kids love singing and dancing to music. Watching the video, I found for my D2L post of the mother talking and singing to her baby was so cute to see. You could see the baby light up at her voice, especially towards the end when the mom put her glasses on. When my sister was a baby, she hated the song rock a bye baby and would cry anytime anyone tried to sing it to her. It’s interesting how at such a young age, children can start to develop emotions towards small things such as that. When looking at the book, it made sense that children develop reactions as they grow and mature. During stage three, infants attempt to produce exciting experiences…. realizing that rattles make noise, and a smiling parent can trigger active efforts for interaction (Berger, 2011). Children as fascinating to observe, and can teach you so much as an adult.
