Goodness of Fitness

I took a liking this week to the "goodness of fit" section of the chapter. I liked this section because it emphasizes that all children are different and need different ways of being taught things and different ways of each parent to deal with struggles. Some children that are anxious have a harder time dealing with stress than kids that are calm and relaxed nature. In these cases, parents need to come up with ways to help their children that accommodate their temperament. Even kids with anger issues or adhd could have a hard time dealing with stress. When I worked in a daycare I use to have to have to talk to a boy that had anger problems in a calm and collective way when he did something he wasn't suppose to. I would have to explain to him how what he did was wrong and showed him how it effected other people. If I was harsher with him, I would get the opposite response from him and he would blow up unlike the other children. I found this article very relating in nature to me and couldn't agree more with the goodness of fit idea. Even though some children are better at dealing or coping with every day crisis, some children are not as easily able to. Adults can help aid these children to deal with things in a more positive way and calm the child down. Adults do have a big role in a child's life and can ultimately have an influence how they handle things later on in life as well.
