When it comes to bullying in todays society you really have to take a step back and see how bad it is. Between cyber bullying and children in schools sending texts around about other people or just being nasty. Growing up I can say that I was a victim of bully. I was tortured all the way through school until i graduated high school, it didn't help moving schools twice so each time it was always the same thing over again being called "bug eyes". It was the jab everyone took even when people didn't know me or just people needing someone to be crude to I was the girl with big eyes and there was no escaping the bug eye name calling.
When you read up on bullying you see how many people commit suicide over people who do cyber bullying and think that it is funny and a game. People take those things to heart, every one makes mistakes and people do things wrong every day. Outing them and making certain things public is a lot more hurtful to people. Being a college student the last four years I have noticed more bullying from 20 year olds than I do little kids.
Learning about bullying and being a victim is very different, you learn about it hoping you will never be the victim of torture and never feeling good about yourself. Society in whole is a bully because they just make fun of people that don't look or act a certain way and its not fair or right in any way. People should really take a stand and shut bullies down and make them realize they aren't the big bad wolf. People can stick together and make a difference.
I'm appalled that you say you've seen more bullying from 20 year olds than little kids. That disgusts me.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you, to me the last 2-3 years I see so much hate and petty bullying from 18-21 year olds than i do 8-12 year olds. They just take to social media and think they can do whatever they want without any care. It is just gross the things people put on social media.
