I was perusing through some blogs and I could not help but really resonate with something that one of my classmates said. She noted that this election season raises some questions of morality and I would like to extend that idea to how it will affect the future.
People joke on the Internet that the election of 2016 will be one that we will NOT teach in our history classes out of sheer embarrassment; however, I believe that this election raises those important moral questions. After the leaking of Donald Trump's disgusting talk of his ability/desire to sexually assault women with his power as a shield, people- Republican politicians in particular- began backing away from Trump, noting how immoral he was because of his heinous remarks. However, these Republicans all nominated him and bear a moral responsibility as well! How is the future going to work when we cannot even vet a candidate's morals and ethics properly? Is it simply that American wants to through morality out the window?
