Bullying

Bullying is a very important topic to me. This is because I can relate to it so much as i'm sure many others can. We all know someone who has been bullied whether is be ourselves, a friend, or family member. All throughout grade school I have encountered bullying. Bullying in elementary school was when it happened the most, however high school is when it was the most harmful or worst. I think this is because most children in elementary school are at the conventional moral reasoning stage which when they are being influenced largely by their peers and fitting in (Berger, 2011). When I look back on bullying in elementary school, I realize that this is why some kids bullied because they were looking to fit in and wanted to be liked by other children. However, in high school I would expect my peers to be in the post conventional moral reasoning stage. I would think they would use everyday logic and would having meaning in what they say and do. When I saw people get bullied in high school, the bully would say more hurtful words and would prey on certain people's flaws more intently. I found this a lot different than the mean lunch money steeling kid at recess or the kid that called you four eyes back in elementary school. Of course this is all my opinion but I wanted to know if anyone felt the same as I do in this area. I think all bullying is bad, however I find that bullying in high school leaves the longest harmful effects on people based on what I experienced myself and through my peers.
